Still Here! March 23, 2005
I am still here, alas, still struggling to make ends meet.
I am doing various jobs on sailboats at the Serendipity Marina that include
climbing masts to replace or fix anchor lights, doing the woodwork on a
28'Island Packet and a 36' Cape Dory, scraping off the the old oil and sanding
the wood then applying the new Cettol Marine Oil which creates havoc in my
head, leaving bad after effects.
I have also been preparing the soil at the new camping lots and planting
grass, but the weather has been very unkind and as a result I have started
helping out at the concrete pouring at the new RV parking spaces also at the
marina. Just trying to stay busy.
Also have repaired a non starting Yanmar engine and it took me hours to find
the problem. The head of the engine was badly corroded and I had to send it to
a machine shop to machine the valve seats to fit the new valves and after
replacing it I was very relieved when the engine started and ran smoothly for
20 hours non-stop.
I also fabricated and installed new woodwork on the hatchcover of Dave and
Sharon's newly acquired Blackwatch sailboat.
So, here I am, the new jack-of-all-trades, doing whatever there is avaible to
get an income !!!! Just the shitty weather lately has been very unco
"pooperative". We have already had more than our annual rainfall in the last 2
months!
